Post- accession returns to Poland

Aims of the project

  1. Exploration of character, scale and socio-demographic profile of post-accession return migration to Poland in order to prepare recommendations to the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development in relation to eventual support of return migrants in doing own business in Poland
  2. Analysis of policy tools addressing return migration in selected countries
  3. Analysis of reintegration patterns of return migrants in the Polish labour market.


  1. Secondary data analysis of Census 2002 and Labour Force Survey (BAEL) 2002-2008
  2. Exploratory in-depth interviews with selected return migrants
  3. Analysis of historical data in relation to migration and return to Poland in the 19th and 20th Centuries
  4. Policy analysis addressing return migration in key countries: Poland, Spain, Ireland.
